Summer is fast approaching. While you are all making your summer plans, I would like to share with you one of my favorite summer challenges to participate in. It is The Resolution by Lamplighter Ministries. If you want to make your summer one of spiritual, physical, and mental growth, then this is the challenge for you!
The Heart of The Resolution
The theme verse of The Resolution is 2 Timothy 2:3-7: "Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things." The heart of the challenge is to train like an athlete, cultivate like a farmer, and advance like a soldier for the glory of God.
Character-Building Books
The Resolution is mainly a reading challenge. The biggest way to earn points is through reading Lamplighter Publishing's books. Each of the books they choose to publish are selected for building Christ-like character in its readers, so I highly recommend them! ( see my reviews for Titus and Stephen)
Daily Activities
However, even if you don't have many of their books, you can still participate! There are dozens of daily activities that also earn you points. Part of the challenge is tracking these activities and what you are learning through them in a daily journal. It is a daily resolution.
Age Groups and Prizes
This challenge is for all ages, from pre-literate children to adults. If you achieve the minimum amount of points by the end of the challenge, you will earn an e-certificate that can be used to purchase digital downloads (including audio dramas, like The White Gypsy).
I hope that you will prayerfully consider joining this challenge. It starts Monday, May 29th, 2023, but you can also hop in later during the summer. I know God has used this challenge in my life before, and I can't wait to see how He will use it this year.
