I’ve heard it said that you are either in a storm, coming out of a storm, or a storm is just around the corner. We will have many trials in our lives, but the truths like the ones in this week’s verse encourage us to continue trusting God.
The LORD is good…
The name “LORD” here means “The Eternal”. God is eternally good. His love for us will never fail or falter. Take a moment to let that sink in. God is good. It is an inseparable part of His being. It will never change.
“O taste and see that the LORD is good: Blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” Psalm 34:8
a strong hold in the day of trouble…
A stronghold is a place people run to when under attack. You will be attacked in your Christian walk. The devil wants to turn you away from God. When he places doubts and temptations in your mind, you must run to the Lord, your undefeatable stronghold.
“I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: My God; in him will I trust.” Psalm 91:2
and he knoweth them that trust in him.
God knows you. If you have put your trust in Him, then you are His child. Just like a father knows his children, their likes, dislikes, joys, and fears, God understands you. Whatever trial you may be facing, or be about to face, God knows exactly what you need every step of the way, and He. Is. Good.
“In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: And his children shall have a place of refuge.” Proverbs 14:26
This week, keep these truths in your heart. Remind yourself of God’s goodness when things seem to be going wrong, flee to Him as your refuge when the devil attacks, and trust Him like a child trusts his father when the storm rages, because He knows you. The day of trouble will come, but the Lord is our eternally good stronghold.
