Weekly Verse - March 26th

John 3:16 is one of the most well known verses of the Bible. Children and adults alike can roll this verse right off their tongues. As well known as this verse is for its simple explanation of the gospel, when was the last time you took the time to dive deep into its truth?

John 3:16 and the following verse, John 3:17, explain the reason Jesus came to earth in a simple and beautiful way. With Easter fast approaching, it is the perfect time to meditate on these verses.

Verse 16:

“For God so loved the world,”

This in itself is an amazing thing. God’s own creation rebelled against Him, and He still loved it: He still loves us.

“That he gave his only begotten Son,”

Jesus is the Son, one of the three persons of the Trinity. He is God, and He came to save us willingly. He chose to descend from perfect heaven to become flesh for us.

“That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish,”

Christ accomplished all that was necessary to save us. He does not ask us to do anything to earn eternal life, rather He gives it freely. All we must do is believe in Him.

“But have everlasting life.”

Let this blow your mind for a moment. You never have to be condemned. You never have to go to hell. Ever.

Verse 17:

“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;”

Christ had every right to condemn us. We are sinful creatures. However, in His perfect love, He saved us instead.

“But that the world through him might be saved.”

Jesus is the only way to salvation. We can never do anything to earn our way to heaven.

This week, meditate on the unimaginable love Jesus showed us in all that he accomplished while here on earth. And remember, Jesus still loves and still saves.

In Christ,

Mission
